Valentine’s Day Makeup

valentines makeupI’ve gotta say, I do like Valentine’s Day. I know it’s all commercialised and created so shops can cash in, blah blah blah, but I think it’s a great excuse to get dressed up and have a good old date night.

I thought I would put together a fresh Valentine’s Day make up look with some of my favourite products of the moment. I wanted to go for something that wasn’t too heavy with a romantic feel.

For me it’s all about the fresh, glowy skin so I went for the L’Oreal True Match Foundation along with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and created a flawless finish with the Real Techniques Beauty Sponge. If you get the base looking perfect then you can’t go too far wrong with the rest.

For eyes I used my favourite Zoeva Palette (which I did a rave review on here) and just used the pale shimmery shade and swept that all over the eye. I then added some dimension to the eyes by going in with a pinky gold shade from the Sleek Eye and Cheek palette. I actually used the blusher colour for my eyes (I know, crazy) because it’s such a pigmented shimmery pink that just looks perfect on the outer edge of the lid – I think would be way too over the top for the cheeks. Once I blended all that out, I popped on some of my all-time favourite mascara which is the Scandal Queen Fairy Drops mascara. This stuff is unbelievable, I’m telling you. For brows I used the L’Oreal Brow Artiste Genius Kit and the set it all in place with the Rimmel Brow Gel in medium brown – my eyebrows are pretty non-existent naturally so this step is a biggie for me.

I really like my Collection #BlushAndGlow palette because it has a great contour shade that’s not too orange or dark and a pretty dusky rose shade that I like to add to the apples of my cheeks. The star of the show for me is the Makeup Revolution Radiance palette. I think I must have used all of these all over my face but it adds a real natural glow to the high points of your face without a chunk of glitter in sight.

To finish it all off I went for the Rimmel Only One Lipstick in Naughty nude. This is a great formula for when you are out eating and drinking because it’s moisturising and after the shine has gone it leaves a nice colour behind and it pretty long wearing for a creamy lipstick. A nude is a safe bet when you want to a colour that fades evenly and it’s a little more forgiving.

So that’s it! Obviously you could add some liquid liner and a pair of fluttery eyelashes if you wanted to go all out but I wanted to keep it fresh and simple.

Do you have a signature date night look?
