Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks

Bourjois Liquid LipsticksLiquid lipsticks are having such a moment right now and I’ve well and truly jumped in the long lasting, matte lip band wagon.

I love a low maintenance statement lip so if I find something with turbo staying power then I’m in. I first got my hands on one of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks a few months ago and now I have three so I thought I would rustle up review to let you know all about them, if you too are a long lasting lip fan.

Let’s talk about the formula. These lip colours are very pigmented so you might want to swipe off the excess product before you apply it or you could end up looking like the joker if you’re not careful! If you apply a thin layer you can get a great colour and the dinky size makes it easy to control and get a precise finish (you can even over line your lips slightly with these for a fuller look). The lasting power is the big seller for me, if I apply this in the morning it will last me most of the day and I will only need to reapply once throughout the day – and I’m a big coffee drinker! The smell is not to everyone’s taste, or so I’ve heard. It smells artificial but isn’t perfumed as such. As soon as you apply it and it’s dried down to a matte finish then you can’t smell it at all. It’s very slightly sticky but it stays put pretty well so I can’t complain. I think these are a great size for taking around with you too and there’s often all three in my handbag (lipstick hoarder, right here!). Let’s get onto the colours…

The first colour I purchased was Beau Brun. I wanted this for an everyday look that would be suitable for the office and would stay put all day. I have worn this colour quite a lot and feel it’s a good brown toned neutral that will work with plenty of makeup looks. It does get darker if you apply a second layer but all in all I think it would suit most skin tones.

The next one I chose was a statement red called Fu(n)chia which is more on the pink side of the red family. I love wearing this with just a classic black eyeliner and a little black dress – you can’t beat a classic.

The last in my collection is Pink Pong and it’s always one I reach for if I need a really bold lip for a night on the town. It’s a slight blue toned pink but the brightness of this really perks up any outfit and takes you from day to night in an instant.

So that’s your lot! What colour is your favourite? Have you tried any of these liquid lipsticks?
