In the past I’ve never been a massive lover of general face products, I’ve always been a fan of eye and lip products because they give you a quick fix when you buy something new. Fast-forward to today though and I now appreciate a good base. My skins not as fresh as it used to be back in the day so sometimes I need a helping hand to perk it up a bit.
I have a confession. I only own one blusher product (ok, it’s a blusher pallet but still, that’s not much for a makeup obsessive) and it’s the Cheeky Sweet Spot Collection from Benefit. My mum bought me this once for Christmas and, while I wasn’t mega fussed about it at first glance, I now just love it because it has everything I want all wrapped up in a beautiful tin!
Let me talk you through the deets.
This pretty little pallet, aptly designed like the front of a sweet shop, contains 5 blushers, a bronzer/contour colour, a cream highlighter and a teeny weeny brush. Now, the brush isn’t that good but it’s the perfect shape to get into that groove under your cheek bone for a bit of definition.
The formulas of these blushes are really nice. They are highly pigmented, so go easy when you swirl your brush in, and there’s some more shimmery than others. The favourites for me are the light fresh pink matt shade called ‘Dandelion’ and the bronze one which is the famous ‘Hoola’ – great contour shade (like I said, easy on the swirling or you may have some very fetching brown lines on your face). The others are really nice too and all give your complexion a little lift. The soft focus highlighter ‘Watts Up’ is a nice creamy consistency and, although it’s not the easiest to blend, it gives a nice finish – not sure on the dip your finger in scenario though – things can get messy!
Overall it’s my go-to blush pallet for every occasion (and not just because I have nothing else) so I don’t feel the need to buy a newbie… unless I could be tempted with something new, I’m all ears!!
Any top blusher recommendations?
